EBC – Writers Special

EBC Writers SpecialThe idea behind this issue was to link the writers featured via an interactive map on the BCA website, the featured book of the month being about underground maps of the world. Unfortunately the microsite never saw the light of day due to time and budgetary constraints.

EBC – Sherlock Holmes Set

ebc131This cover is an example of how to meet a deadline at the last minute even though absolutely no supporting material has arrived. The focus of the issue was a slipcase set of the nine Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The deadline kept creeping nearer and nearer without any imagery arriving from the publisher until eventually we had to just make something up. I love the headline as well. I was holding the printed copy when the publisher’s material finally arrived!

EBC – For Your Eyes Only

ebc_bondThis edition of the English Book Club was themed to the James Bond series of films, as it was promoting heavily a series of Bond titles. All the regular headlines and features were printed on the plastic outer envelope, leaving the whole cover over to Bond once the magazine was taken out.
